in Remembrance.

Clay is a new language that has facilitated peace
and meditations on remembrance
and affirmation for Black women existing
in the presence of our enemies. I’d like to share this peaceful moment with you as a vessel of affirmation and remembrance.

These works recall the Black woman’s form while also— as with VGB’s handmade journals— carrying words of confirmation for the sojourning Black woman living witness holding these vessels, holding her peace,
holding her testimony,
holding her vigilance,
holding her ancestral memories,
holding the hope of self and ancestors,
..while practicing remembrance.

These early works embody my curiosity
and growing understanding of this new medium for my voice.
